The Girona City Council has announced its decision to appeal 42 court rulings that favor municipal employees regarding unpaid overtime worked between 2019 and 2022.

The local government aims to prevent what it describes as a 'double payment' for the same labor concept. According to official sources, the 300,000 euros claimed by the workers were already compensated through specific salary supplements, although the courts found insufficient evidence linking those payments to the extra hours.

"We have decided to appeal these judicial resolutions because we consider that the compensations had already been paid."

The dispute stems from the Job Valuation (VLT) approved in May 2019. Additionally, the council rejected calls from the PSC party for the resignation of councilor M. Àngels Planas, stating that the current situation arises from long-standing structural issues rather than personal management errors.
