The city of Girona has been designated as the host for the ninth edition of the World Congress on Adult Capacity, which will take place from July 4 to July 7, 2028.

The official handover for the organization of this event was formalized in Amsterdam during the closing session of this year's edition. The bid, promoted by the organization Support-Girona, received the endorsement of the International Advisory Committee, which praised both the scientific proposal and the city's appeal as a congress destination.
The scientific program planned for the 2028 edition will focus on current challenges in legal capacity support systems. Key topics include the implementation of the United Nations Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities, ethical dilemmas, mental health, aging, and the impact of artificial intelligence in this field.
The congress is expected to bring together nearly 500 delegates from around the world, including legal professionals, judges, researchers, and representatives from social organizations. The organizers aim for the event to bridge the gap between theoretical debates and practical solutions that ensure the rights and autonomy of individuals in their daily lives.
