A vehicle fire forced the closure of the C-25 in Espinelves for over two hours on Sunday, causing significant traffic jams on a key route in Central Catalonia.

A burning vehicle caused the closure of the C-25 in Espinelves towards Lleida on Sunday afternoon. The incident led to substantial traffic jams on this section of the Eix Transversal, particularly affecting drivers heading inland.
According to the Servei Català de Trànsit (Catalan Traffic Service), the road was completely shut in the direction of Lleida around 2 PM. Later, traffic was partially reopened, with one lane closed and congestion in the affected area.
Two units from the Bombers de la Generalitat (Generalitat Firefighters) responded to extinguish the blaze. The emergency services confirmed it was a vehicle emitting a lot of smoke and reported no injuries.
The traffic situation gradually improved throughout the afternoon. Following the initial full closure, it was reduced to a single lane, and finally, traffic returned to normal at 4:29 PM.
Although the disruption has now been resolved, the incident caused considerable delays on one of the main connecting routes between Girona, Osona, and Central Catalonia. The Servei Català de Trànsit advises checking road conditions before travelling and exercising extreme caution when emergency vehicles are present on the carriageway or shoulder.
