National Police agents in Girona arrested a fugitive wanted for drug trafficking in Italy on January 29, when he appeared at the police station to renew his documentation.

The suspect appeared at the National Police station to request a name change on his documentation and the renewal of his residence permit. During the data verification process, officers detected a search, arrest, and extradition warrant issued by the Italian judicial authorities.
This warrant was due to a definitive conviction for drug trafficking in Italy. The fugitive had been residing in Girona since 2021, having fled the country before the final sentence was issued.
After checking personal data and fingerprints to confirm his identity, the violent crimes group of the Provincial Judicial Police Brigade proceeded with the arrest.
Currently, the man has been jailed by order of the Central Investigating Court of the National High Court, pending extradition to the Italian authorities to serve his sentence.
