Midfielder Iván Martín has shifted from being an essential piece for Míchel to a substitute role for Girona FC in the recent matches against Celta and Levante.

The Basque player's current situation is unprecedented since the 2022/23 season. After nearly three years as a tactical mainstay, Iván Martín has played only 43 minutes over the last two matchdays. This shift coincides with Fran Beltrán and Axel Witsel establishing themselves as the preferred double pivot.
New signings like Echeverri, the recovery of Ounahi, and Lemar's form have also limited his opportunities in the attacking midfield role. Despite being the fourth most-used player in the squad after Vitor Reis, Blind, and Gazzaniga, his statistical output has declined.
So far this season, the midfielder has yet to score and has provided only one assist. Moving from an advanced role to a deeper midfield position appears to have reduced his impact in the final third for Girona.
