A key figure in local commerce, Araus turned his father's plastic goods shop into a landmark for Scalextric and toy enthusiasts. The family business, founded in 1949, continues today at Migdia Street, managed by the third generation of the family.

Araus was also a dedicated athlete at the GEiEG sports club, where he practiced swimming daily and held several Catalonia regional records in the 80-85 age category.
