A jury trial begins this Monday for the driver accused of causing the death of a cyclist on the Àngels road, in the municipality of Quart, in October 2021.

The prosecution is requesting a sentence of eight years in prison for the defendant. According to the indictment, the driver was under the influence of alcohol, with a blood alcohol level of 0.87 mg/l, and was driving above the speed limit at the time of the accident.
The public prosecutor maintains that, after hitting the victim, the driver fled the scene without providing any assistance. In the same case, a second occupant of the vehicle faces a fine of 5,400 euros for failure to provide assistance.
The judicial proceedings, taking place in the fourth section, include testimony from witnesses and the defendants over the coming days. The presiding judge will deliver the verdict object to the jury this Thursday for deliberation.
