Portbou will receive 4.25 million euros for the future Walter Benjamin Memorial Space, transforming the old town hall and old schools into a center dedicated to the German philosopher. Sant Joan de les Abadesses will receive 2 million euros for the second phase of the Mestre Andreu institute-school.
These nominative allocations, assigned directly to the town councils, will enable the execution of projects that would be "impossible" to carry out with municipal budgets alone. The Generalitat will guarantee funding for these projects throughout the 2026-2030 period.
Other benefiting municipalities include Cassà de la Selva (460,000 euros for the redevelopment of the old town), Hostalric (400,000 euros for the new football pitch turf), and Serinyà (500,000 euros for the purchase and adaptation of the Can Carreres property).
The Government delegate, Xavier Guitart, highlighted that these investments, to be approved this July, also prioritize small towns and will address the deficit of municipal secretaries. Furthermore, the first call for the Pla de Pobles (Towns Plan) will be launched for municipalities with fewer than 5,000 inhabitants.
Other locations such as Girona, Salt, and Blanes will have their investments guaranteed in upcoming years, with projects including the construction of the Balandrau school in Girona, the new Salvador Sunyer institute in Salt, and the renovation of the bus station in Blanes.
