The victory achieved by Míchel's men against Osasuna (1-0) has completely turned the club's situation around. After months of struggle and a first half of the season considered disastrous, Girona has managed to recover and meet the objective of reaching a fantastic 21 points, achieving two consecutive victories for the first time this season.
Although it was not their best day in terms of gameplay, Girona showed they have learned how to suffer to secure the three points. The match started complicated due to the absence of Witsel, forcing Arnau into the double pivot, and the first clear chances went to the Navarrese side, with shots from Rubén García and headers from Budimir.
The decisive goal arrived just before halftime, in the 44th minute. Following a play initiated by Iván Martín and a cutback pass from Àlex Moreno, Vanat improvised a back-heel flick to beat Herrera and open the scoring. This goal gave Girona the necessary stroke of luck to take the lead without fully deserving it.
Girona demonstrated that they have learned to suffer to take the three points from a match where they did not make more merits than the opponent.
The second half was defined by Girona's resistance. Osasuna started stronger and had a clear chance in the 57th minute when a spectacular shot by Rubén García hit the crossbar. Nevertheless, Girona managed the final minutes perfectly, successfully slowing down the game and maintaining the result until the final whistle, which followed a skirmish that resulted in the direct red card expulsion of Lass.
