The day of protest began early in the morning with slow-moving vehicle marches and walking columns that arrived in the capital from various municipalities such as Banyoles, Figueres, Torroella de Montgrí, Verges, Sarrià de Ter, Llagostera, and Salt. Participants converged at plaça Catalunya to hold an informative class before heading towards the Serveis Territorials d'Educació.
The collective's demands focus on the need to reduce classroom ratios and increase the number of specialized staff. According to sector sources, the current learning situation of students shows a significant delay, exacerbated by the lack of resources to address educational diversity in large groups.
“"The distinctive feature of this cycle of strikes is that, beyond the unions pushing for it, this has come from the base, from the centers, from people who genuinely show that they are fed up and want to make their voices heard."
The protest coincides with a meeting at the Mesa Sectorial where union representatives and the Department of Education are debating proposals regarding inclusive schooling. Teachers have warned that any agreement must be consulted with the collective before being ratified, noting that historical budget cuts have directly affected the quality of education.
