Spar Girona saw its aspirations to play in the Women's League final vanish in a cruel match ending against Valencia, despite a great performance at Fontajau.

The Girona team concluded a season marked by overcoming challenges, falling short of the League final. After overturning a one-point deficit from the first leg, Uni held a 70-61 lead in the final quarter. However, a 0-11 run against them, an agonizing free throw by Anderson, and a failed last possession sealed their fate, with a final score of 73-73 that qualified Valencia.
Despite the disappointment, the team's performance was remarkable, especially with contributions from Holm and Coulibaly, who combined for 45 points. The performance of Ainhoa and other players who performed at a high level was also highlighted. The Fontajau crowd vibrated with the team in the last game of the season, although the outcome was not as expected. Qualification for the EuroLeague, albeit by default, is now secured.
Uni showed great ambition from the first quarter, overcoming the discomfort and fatigue accumulated throughout the season. With intense defense, offensive mobility, and inspired players, they surprised Valencia. Coulibaly quickly scored 9 points, and Ainhoa López and Holm also shone, leading the team with speed and fight. The bench, with contributions from Pendande and Merceron, helped achieve a maximum lead of 21-9, closing the first quarter with a 28-20 score.
However, Valencia reacted in the second quarter, taking advantage of Uni's drop in pace. A 6-18 run turned the score around, with Fam and Fiebich (15 points in the first two periods) leading the comeback. Despite the efforts of Jocyte and Coulibaly to tie the game, halftime arrived with a tight 45-46, leaving everything open for the second half.
After the break, Spar Girona regained the initiative with a 7-1 run, but accumulated fouls too quickly, especially affecting Quevedo. Valencia stayed in the game thanks to Fam and free throws. Uni excelled in defense, stifling the opponent's attack, and on offense relied on individual actions from Ainhoa and Holm. In the final quarter, Queralt Casas scored a crucial three-pointer, but Holm and Coulibaly responded strongly, extending the lead to 70-61.
Valencia, however, did not give up and reacted with a 0-11 run, putting the score at 70-72. After a free throw by Holm and two by Coulibaly, the score was 73-72 with a few seconds left. A foul on Anderson resulted in a free throw that tied the game at 73. With 5.6 seconds and the last possession, Uni attempted a play for Coulibaly, but the center, well-defended, could not score under the basket, ending the dream of the final.
