The Gironès County Council, along with six local municipalities and the Social Housing Foundations Coordinator (COHABITAC), has launched a project to build approximately 170 social housing units for affordable rent.

The framework agreement, approved by the county council's plenary session last July, includes the municipalities of Celrà, Sant Gregori, Fornells de la Selva, Quart, Cassà de la Selva, and Bescanó. This initiative is the result of nearly two years of collaboration between administrations and social entities, during which potential sites, legal frameworks, and viability models for future developments have been studied.
Each development will require its own specific expediente and approval from the plenary session of each involved municipality. The County Council will act as a coordinator and provide technical assistance to the municipalities to facilitate project development and thus increase the stock of affordable housing in the area.

"Access to housing is one of the main challenges for our municipalities today."
