Officers received a tip-off on August 4th about a white vehicle with a taxi sign on its roof loading passengers in Empuriabrava, heading to the Girona airport. A patrol located the car on the AP-7 motorway, by which time the sign was no longer visible.
Upon arrival at Girona Airport, the police stopped the vehicle to avoid issues for the passengers. During the inspection, they found the taxi sign hidden in the trunk, which had allegedly been used to pick up clients.
The driver was reported for lacking the necessary authorization to provide the service. As he failed to pay the required 4,001 euros, officers proceeded to immobilize the vehicle.
This action follows a coordination meeting five months prior between the Mossos d’Esquadra and local police in Salt, focused on preventing and detecting irregularities in passenger transport to ensure safety and prevent unfair competition.
