The Mou-te en Bici association mobilized about 250 people during the 2026 Three Kings Bike Ride in Girona on the morning of January 11, using the event to demand the Casa de la Bicicleta and the use of bicycles by the Local Police.
The Three Kings Bike Ride, which started at Plaça de Francesc Calvet i Rubalcaba, achieved a record number of participants, highlighting the presence of many children. Despite the event's success, the entity emphasized its urgent demands to improve cycling infrastructure in the capital of Girona.
“
"We have a very large fleet, with tandems for blind people and tricycles for carrying the elderly, and we have to move them every day from one place to another because we don't have a fixed place to store them."
The main demand is the creation of the Casa de la Bicicleta (Bicycle House), an information and reception point that the association has been requesting for years. The association's president, Xavier Corominas, pointed out that the lack of a stable space creates great logistical precariousness and overloads the volunteer work.
“
"The police want to come with their motorcycles, and we tell them it's not necessary. They should ride bicycles like in many countries in Europe or as already happens in Barcelona. The police must adapt to the citizens, and here they are still lagging behind."
In addition to infrastructure demands, the entity highlighted the creation of the first community of families with cargo bikes in Girona, which emerged after the Sea Otter Europe festival last September. Mariona Ferrer, spokesperson for the cargo-family group, defended these vehicles as a sustainable and efficient alternative to the car.
“
"It is our car: cheaper, faster in daily life, sustainable, and fun."
