The Col·legi de Periodistes de Catalunya and the Diputació de Girona announced this Wednesday the finalists for the XVIII Carles Rahola Local Communication Awards, celebrating regional journalism.

Key nominees include Carmina Solano for her report on the Can Tita crime in Som del Pont magazine, and Mariona Ferrer for her local reporting. In the photography category, David Aparicio and Pere Duran are the finalists, with the latter recognized for his work on the landscape of Lake Banyoles.
Other highlights include a Girona FM special program and TV3 reports on the mass grave at Girona cemetery. However, the best journalistic project category and the Girona City Council grant remained vacant this year due to a lack of entries.
The winners will be revealed during the official ceremony on Thursday, February 26th, at 8:00 PM at the Girona Auditorium.
