This initiative is part of the 2024-2029 Local Housing Plan, designed to revitalize the residential stock and make currently vacant properties available. The subsidized interventions have improved key aspects such as safety, accessibility, and energy efficiency of the properties.
The Housing Councilor, Margarita Mauri, highlighted the importance of utilizing existing resources. "We must be able to make better use of the homes we already have," she stated, emphasizing that renovations help update needed apartments, keep them in use, and facilitate the return of vacant homes to the market.
The call for applications was structured into two main lines. The first, linked to the Social Rental Mediation Pool, supported three homes with a municipal investment of 12,130.73 euros out of a total cost of 13,425.73 euros. These actions ensure the continuity of rental contracts for the resident families.
The second line benefited an additional 31 homes, with a total investment of 266,907.74 euros, of which the council contributed 110,105.60 euros. In total, the renovations for the 34 homes amounted to a cost of 280,333.47 euros, with a total municipal subsidy of 122,236.33 euros.
The City Council is already preparing a new call for applications for 2026. This will again include aid for the renovation of vacant homes intended for the Social Rental Mediation Pool, as well as subsidies for building rehabilitation and accessibility improvements.
