The President of the Generalitat, Salvador Illa, presented two books from the University of Girona to Brazilian President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva during his visit to Barcelona last Friday.

The gifts, published by the Chair of Legal Culture at the UdG, included Teoría de la seguridad jurídica, by Brazilian constitutional jurist Humberto Ávila, and Prova sense convicció, a work by the chair's director, Jordi Ferrer-Beltrán. The latter title, translated into Portuguese, serves as a training tool for jurists and judges in Brazil, highlighting the collaboration between the chair and Brazilian institutions.
The book presentation took place during Lula da Silva's visit to the Barcelona Supercomputing Center (BSC) on Friday afternoon. On this occasion, the President of the Generalitat also gifted the Brazilian leader a Gaudí dragon figurine. The visit to the BSC followed the Spain-Brazil summit, presided over by Lula and Spanish President Pedro Sánchez, at the Palau de Pedralbes.
Accompanied by the Minister of Science, Innovation and Universities, Diana Morant, and the Minister of Research and Universities, Núria Montserrat, Salvador Illa explained the Catalan research system to Lula. He emphasized the public governance of the BSC, jointly managed by the central Government and the Generalitat, as a guarantee that technology serves the common interest.
Lula da Silva's presence in Barcelona is part of the fourth meeting of the In Defense of Democracy forum, which brings together some twenty international political leaders to address the rise of the far-right and seek peaceful solutions to global conflicts. This gathering coincides with the Global Progressive Mobilization, a forum organized by socialist parties that convenes politicians, academics, and activists from around the world to debate global challenges from a progressive perspective.
