Civil Protection of the Generalitat has activated the alert phase of the Inuncat Plan due to the forecast of intense showers this Thursday afternoon, especially affecting several regions of Girona and Barcelona.

According to the Meteorological Service of Catalonia (SMC), accumulations exceeding 40 liters per square meter in just 30 minutes are expected, and in some areas up to 60 liters per square meter in three hours. These figures increase the risk of local floods and sudden rises in rivers and streams.
The rainfall episode will begin in inland areas and progressively move towards the coast, affecting a wide area of the territory. Showers could be intense and accompanied by thunderstorms, hail, or sleet.
The Catalan Water Agency (ACA) has reminded that the ground is already very moist from recent rains, which could accelerate the response of watercourses.

Exercising extreme caution and staying away from rivers, streams, and flood-prone areas are the main recommendations.

Given this situation, Civil Protection urges citizens to exercise extreme caution, follow the evolution of weather forecasts, and avoid crossing watercourses. In case of emergency, remember to call 112.
