The Girona, cardioprotected territory program, led by Dipsalut, has successfully recovered 114 individuals from out-of-hospital cardiac arrests since its launch in 2011.

The Girona province hosts Europe's largest network of automated external defibrillators (AEDs), featuring 1,105 units. This infrastructure includes 612 fixed public columns and 392 mobile units carried by emergency services.
A recent success occurred in Cadaqués, where Local Police saved a 63-year-old man using a mobile device. Emergency responders, including Mossos d'Esquadra and Firefighters, play a crucial role in this network, as their mobility allows for rapid response during critical moments.
Beyond equipment, Dipsalut focuses on public awareness. Last year, 1,800 people attended training workshops at major events like the Girona Trade Fair, ensuring citizens are prepared to act during cardiac emergencies.
