The activation of level 4 of the Alfa Plan, the maximum level of restrictions, prohibits any activity in the natural environment across 20 municipalities in the area. The measure, which will remain in force at least until midnight on Friday, aims to prevent people from entering the area during a time of extreme danger to vegetation.
The control operation will involve the Agents Rurals, the Mossos d'Esquadra, the Seprona of the Civil Guard, the ADF, and local police forces. Authorities have warned that if weather conditions do not improve, they do not rule out extending the closure to other natural areas in Catalonia.
“"We are taking this measure because nine out of ten fires are caused by human activity; therefore, we are trying to avoid frequenting the massif at this time of maximum danger."
At the same time, firefighting teams continue to work on the active forest fire in the area, which has affected approximately 2,200 hectares within a 2,400-hectare perimeter. Experts note that the final surface area may vary due to the presence of unburned vegetation patches within the affected perimeter.
