The airline Ryanair expects passenger traffic at Girona-Costa Brava Airport to decrease this summer 2026 for the first time since before the pandemic, citing Aena's fee system.

The company issued a statement criticizing the current model for not supporting regional airports or off-season tourism. They have called on the Ministry of Transport and the CNMC to reject any potential tax increases that could further impact the sector.

"The airline maintains growth plans for Catalan airports if economic conditions improve."
