This measure, formalized through a decree, aims to adapt pastoral management to the current needs of the diocese. The decision was made taking into account factors such as the availability of priests, the vitality of Christian communities, and the evangelizing challenges of the moment.
In parallel, a consultation process has been launched to designate the new heads of these demarcations. During the month of October, meetings will be convened in each of the six new territorial areas where priests and deacons with pastoral appointments will be able to propose candidates through secret ballot.
The result of these votes will be evaluated by the bishop, who will make the final appointments following canon law. The new archpriests will hold their position for a period of three years. Until this process is completed, the current officials will work jointly in the newly defined areas.
