The Dr. Josep Trueta University Hospital and ICS Girona have announced 103 positions for new residents in 2026, featuring the debut of the emergency medicine specialty.

The Trueta Hospital is significantly increasing its capacity with 62 vacancies, seven more than in 2025. Most positions (51) are for medical residents (MIR), while others cover specialized nursing, pharmacy, and biology.
A major highlight this year is the launch of emergency and disaster medicine training, fulfilling a long-standing professional demand. Training will be conducted across Trueta Hospital, Santa Caterina Hospital, and the Medical Emergency System (SEM).
The hospital is also adding hospital radiophysics to its curriculum, a vital field for precision oncology treatments in collaboration with the Catalan Institute of Oncology (ICO). The center now boasts 33 accredited teaching specialties.
