Companies in Girona are facing a period of uncertainty following Donald Trump's threats to cut trade with Spain, a market that accounted for 199.19 million euros in 2025.

The diplomatic tension regarding the use of military bases for the offensive against Iran has placed Girona's exports in jeopardy. The United States is currently the ninth largest commercial partner for the province, representing 2.3% of total foreign sales, particularly in the food and chemical sectors.
In addition to trade pressure, the Middle East conflict has caused an immediate spike in fuel prices at Girona gas stations. Diesel prices have risen by 19 cents since last Saturday, directly impacting the competitiveness of road transport and operational costs for the tourism industry.

"Road freight transport is very sensitive to these situations, especially if the conflict lasts and there is a sustained price increase."
