The agreement was finalized this Thursday afternoon, just hours after the wholesalers began the stoppage. The companies, which function as logistical collection points for game meat, will resume service with full normality across the territory starting Friday.
The consensus reached allows us to guarantee more stable, viable, and safe conditions to continue developing the service in the context of African Swine Fever.
The companies involved in the strike include Lantxaga SL (Fornells de la Selva), Càrniques Llorà SL (Sant Miquel de Balenyà), Vedat Pirineus SL (in Olius and Sort), Morcolain SL (Sant Joan les Fonts and Igualada), and Logística Capo SL (Sant Jaume dels Domenys).
The sector had reported that, following the outbreak of African Swine Fever (ASF), sales had plummeted, forcing them to store tons of unsold meat and operate under very difficult conditions, assuming significant economic and sanitary responsibilities without a clear framework.
“"Thanks to everyone for the dialogue, responsibility, and commitment to the territory and animal health."
The wholesalers insist that the wild boar meat leaving the logistical points passes “all sanitary controls” and complies with “100% of the guarantees required by current regulations” for human consumption.
