On March 8th in Girona, Anna Perich from Empordà denounced that achieving a work-life balance remains an unattainable luxury for many women caring for dependent family members.

Perich's life illustrates the complexity of caregiving. As a biological mother of a 26-year-old, a foster mother to a girl with autism, and a caregiver for her parents—one suffering from Alzheimer's—she had to leave the tourism sector due to incompatible schedules.

"If you are a mother, you want to work, you have young children and you are alone, it is almost impossible."

To maintain her career, Anna moved to the public sector to access reduced working hours. However, her daily routine still involves commuting between Figueres and Girona, managing therapies and hospital stays for her daughter, who needs constant supervision.
She criticizes a system that forces women to choose between their profession and motherhood, stating that many companies still doubt the professional capabilities of caregivers, leading many to put their careers on hold.
