Premlall's feat, at just 22 years old, echoed Tiger Woods' historic triumph at the 2000 US Open. The South African concluded the tournament with an impressive -28, after carding nine strokes under par for the second consecutive day. This performance placed him significantly ahead of his rivals.

His compatriot Shaun Norris finished in second place with -14, while Alejandro del Rey, Oihan Guillamoundeguy, and JC Ritchie shared third place with -13. Spanish golfer Rafa Cabrera Bello climbed to sixth position with -12, thanks to an excellent final round.

Premlall had already distinguished himself in his amateur career, qualifying for the South African Open Championship at just 15 years old and becoming the youngest player to win the Betway Big Easy Tour. In 2024, he also secured victory at the Vodacom Origins of Golf at Sishen on the Sunshine Tour.

The Estrella Damm Catalunya Championship is part of the DP World Tour and counts towards the Race to Dubai, marking the first event of the European Swing. This event, sponsored by Estrella Damm and in collaboration with the Real Club de Golf El Prat, is part of the journey towards the 2031 Ryder Cup, which will be held in Camiral, Caldes de Malavella.
