An individual threw an armchair from a balcony onto the Gran Via de Jaume I in Girona on Tuesday afternoon, January 13, prompting the intervention of the Municipal Police, though no pedestrians were injured.

The incident took place around five in the afternoon in the section between Eiximenis Street and Nord Street, a very central area of the city. Although the object landed very close to pedestrians, fortunately, no injuries were reported.
Several officers from the Girona Municipal Police quickly moved to the scene to secure the area and prevent any risk to public safety.

The swift response by emergency services was crucial in preventing serious personal injury in such a busy part of the city.

Subsequently, the person who had thrown the armchair was treated and transferred by a Medical Emergency System (SEM) ambulance to Santa Caterina Hospital in Salt. This transfer was carried out due to a mental health problem.
