The loan of Yáser Asprilla to Galatasaray, along with Jhon Solís to Birmingham, was crucial in unblocking Girona FC's winter transfer market. This move allowed for the acquisition of players such as Claudio Echeverri, Fran Beltrán, Marc ter Stegen, and Rubén Blanco. Girona loaned Asprilla, their most expensive signing to date, to the Turkish side until the end of the season, with a purchase option of 23 million euros plus variables, potentially reaching 25 million.
However, three months later, the situation has dramatically changed. From Turkey, several media outlets are reporting Asprilla's return to Girona FC once the current season concludes. The player has only featured in nine matches, accumulating just over 300 minutes across the Turkish Süper Lig and the Turkish Cup, without scoring any goals or providing assists.
Recently, the Colombian winger missed Galatasaray's last match due to a knee injury sustained against Göztepe, precisely during his first league start. Medical tests revealed that the footballer is suffering from knee edema and bleeding in the joint capsule, which is why he is currently training separately from the main squad.
“"He will return to Girona at the end of the season."
Turkish media, including Sporx, Ajansspor, and beIN Sports Turkey, unanimously indicate that Galatasaray has no intention of exercising the purchase option for Asprilla if he does not meet the established objectives. This situation paves the way for his return to the Montilivi stadium this summer.
