The sentence, issued by the Audiencia de Girona, follows the defendant's admission during the hearing that he attacked his roommates while they were sleeping. The events occurred on the morning of January 14, 2024, in the capital of Girona.

The prosecution (Fiscalía) and the defense reached an agreement to apply the incomplete exemption for psychic alteration. It was determined that at the time of the attack, his capacities were significantly impaired due to a psychotic disorder.

Furthermore, the parties agreed to withdraw the public prosecution's initial request for expulsion from the country, as the defendant was able to prove his deep roots in Spain.

The court convicted the man as the perpetrator of two counts of attempted murder. In addition to the prison sentence, the court imposed a prohibition on approaching or communicating with the victims for a period of seven years.
