The Girona platform El Parc no es Toca, which opposes the park's use for the development of the Health Campus and the future Josep Trueta Hospital, has expressed caution regarding the announcements of relocation of building rights. The park is located in the Can Gibert del Pla and Santa Eugènia de Ter sectors.
“"There is no concrete proposal or legally valid document that effectively guarantees the preservation of the park as it stands."
It was reported on Sunday that the alternative being studied by both administrations involves transferring the planned building rights, intended to compensate affected landowners, to an industrial area in the Mas Xirgu estate. The platform insists that the park must not be “a bargaining chip” in the new project.
El Parc no es Toca, which comprises more than forty organizations, also criticizes its exclusion from the sessions of the Girona-Nou Trueta Health Campus Observatory. They requested to be present at the session on November 6 but received no response.
Platform members maintain that preserving Vilamitjana Park is a “matter of legitimate defense of the neighborhood's right to a healthy, green, and dignified environment.” The City Council and the Generalitat plan to provide details on investments in the affected neighborhoods at the next bilateral commission meeting.
