Girona FC has undergone a radical change in momentum, accumulating 12 points in the last five matchdays and climbing from 18th to 9th position in the league standings.

Before visiting Real Sociedad on December 12, the Girona side was going through a delicate period, marked by the elimination from the Copa del Rey at Ourense's ground and the tough 3-0 defeat against Elx. These results had dampened the optimism generated by previous draws against Betis and Real Madrid.
Since then, the team led by Míchel has secured four crucial victories: against Real Sociedad (1-2), Mallorca (1-2), Osasuna (1-0), and Espanyol (0-1). The only negative result in this streak was the 0-3 defeat against Atlético de Madrid.
This run of results confirms that Girona is currently one of the most in-form teams in the competition. The 12 points accumulated in just five matches represent the same amount the team took to achieve during the first 15 league matchdays.
The effect of this acceleration has been immediate and spectacular, allowing the club to move from the relegation zone (18th position) to provisionally occupy 9th place, creating a significant buffer against the dangerous positions.
Regarding recent performance, only Real Madrid (12 points), FC Barcelona (with nine consecutive league victories), and Celta (who could reach 13 points if they win their pending match) match or exceed Girona's figures in the last five league fixtures.
