Hatim Azahri wins Princess of Girona Social Award 2026 for community work

The award, presented during the Tour del Talent in Sant Boi de Llobregat, recognizes the efforts of the Young United Association.

The young Hatim Azahri Akhnous, founder of the Young United Association of Poble-sec, was honored with the Princess of Girona Social Award 2026 during the central event of the Tour del Talent held on Tuesday in Sant Boi de Llobregat.

The youth association from the Poble-sec neighborhood in Barcelona was recognized for its community work and trust-building efforts. The award ceremony, which culminated the Tour del Talent 2026, was presided over by King Felipe VI at the Parellada sports center in Sant Boi de Llobregat on Tuesday afternoon.

"They did something very basic with me, which is talking to me; let's not underestimate the power of words, and let's not tire of giving thanks and asking for forgiveness."

Azahri, visibly emotional, thanked the jury and highlighted the importance of two of his teachers, Rosa and Conxita, for their positive influence. He also called for openness and neighborhood connection, inviting those present to “always ask the name of the person next to you”.
The jury, which emphasized the high standard of the transformative projects submitted, noted that “real change is possible when built from the ground up”. Among the finalists for the award were Diana de Arias, Pol Ricart, Natalia Rodríguez, and Mateo Nicolás.
