Vila-real, with Tenas starting in goal, was clearly overwhelmed by Racing de Santander, the leader of La Liga2. The 'Yellow Submarine' was already trailing 2-0 after half an hour of play and could only narrow the gap, scoring the definitive 2-1 goal five minutes before the end.
Meanwhile, Ferran Jutglà's Celta suffered a similar setback against Albacete, also from La Liga2. The Galician side conceded the 2-2 equalizer in stoppage time. Jutglà entered the pitch for extra time, which ended goalless, but the tie was decided by penalties, where the Vigo team failed to convert any of their shots.
These eliminations, added to the previous ones of Joel Roca's Girona and Ilyas Chaira's Oviedo, mean that no player originating from the Osona or Ripollès regions remains active in the Copa del Rey competition.
