The Catalan Government and the Ministry of Transport formalized the creation of the new joint company Rodalies de Catalunya at the Palau de la Generalitat, naming Òscar Playà as its Chief Executive Officer.

The protocolary act for the constitution of the commercial company took place yesterday at the Palau de la Generalitat, attended by President Salvador Illa and the Minister of Transport and Sustainable Mobility, Óscar Puente. The formal signing before a notary, concluding two years of negotiations, is scheduled for before Friday this week.
President Illa announced the composition of the board of directors appointed by the Generalitat. The new CEO will be Òscar Playà, current director of the TMB metro network, who must step down from his previous role. Also joining is Marc Sanglas, former Secretary of Infrastructure and Mobility under the Pere Aragonès executive.

"We are more effective if it is done locally."

The presidency of Rodalies de Catalunya SME will fall to the Minister of Territory, Sílvia Paneque, in accordance with the statutes which stipulate that the position always corresponds to the mobility head of the Catalan Government. The board is completed by Teresa Torres (formerly of Infraestructures.cat) and Pere Macias, the commissioner for the transfer of Rodalies.
The joint company, with a foundational capital of 1.557 million euros, is owned 50.1% by Renfe Viajeros SA and 49.9% by the Generalitat de Catalunya. Despite the formal constitution, Government sources estimate that real operations will not begin until next year, as the railway license and safety certificate still need to be processed.
