The sports director of Bàsquet Girona, Fernando San Emeterio, stated he was “very happy” and “satisfied” with the team's performance during the first half of the season. He stressed that the objective is not to set concrete result goals, but to focus on the daily work and the game to “find our ceiling” and see “how far we can go.”
“"I value this more than the eight victories. This sign of identity is what makes me most proud and also calm."
San Emeterio celebrated that the team has achieved a recognizable “identity,” ensuring that “when Girona steps onto the court, everyone knows what they will play” and that the effort is always 100%. He emphasized that achieving this identity is “a very important and very difficult thing to achieve.”
The director also highlighted the “heart” and the “human factor” of the squad, which remained “united at all times” and continued working despite a complicated start to the season with three tough defeats. He added that the team is on the “right track” and will not fall into any kind of relaxation.
“"In this highly competitive league, the difference between having a good first half or a regular first half is the human factor, this union and this family that can bring you back."
Regarding the roster, San Emeterio confirmed that the Argentinian guard Maxi Fjellerup is getting closer to rejoining the team dynamic, after overcoming pubalgia and an ankle sprain. He also congratulated the women's team for their “historic” qualification for the EuroLeague Final Six.
