Protecció Civil activated the Neucat plan this Saturday, January 24, due to expected snowfall affecting central and northeastern Catalonia, with the snow line between 600 and 700 meters.

The alert remains active since this morning, as the Catalan Meteorological Service (Meteocat) has issued a danger warning level 2 out of 6 for snow. This situation impacts a total of ten Catalan counties.
Forecasts suggest that snow accumulation could exceed five centimeters at 700 meters altitude. Although the initial snow line is set between 600 and 700 meters, it is expected to drop occasionally to 300 or 400 meters, particularly in inland areas.
Due to the weather conditions, the use of snow chains is currently mandatory for driving on the N-260 road, specifically in the sections passing through Sarroca de Bellera and Ribera d'Urgellet, according to the Catalan Traffic Service.
