The Catalan Association of Artisanal Cheese Makers (ACREFA) concluded the third edition of Formatgem! this weekend in Girona, filling the Palau de Fires venue with enthusiasts.

The event highlighted the excellence of local production through workshops, guided tastings, and culinary demonstrations. A key feature was the presentation of an equivalence table linking international classics like Parmesan or Roquefort with local artisanal alternatives to encourage their use in professional kitchens.
The weekend also hosted the 3rd Catalan Artisanal Cheese Competition, recognizing winners across 16 categories. Awards were given for fresh cheeses, yogurts, blue cheeses, and hard pastes made from cow, goat, and sheep milk, demonstrating the sector's diversity.
The program included students from the Girona Hospitality School and local wines. However, the event was slightly shortened on Sunday afternoon as the Girona City Council ordered the suspension of outdoor activities due to a severe wind episode affecting the city.
