American footballer Trinity Rodman has signed a new contract with the Washington Spirit, becoming the highest-paid female player globally, surpassing the salary previously held by Catalan star Aitana Bonmatí.

Rodman's renewal with the NWSL club guarantees her earnings exceeding two million dollars (1.7 million euros) for each of the three seasons. This figure overtakes the record held by Aitana Bonmatí since her renewal with Barça in September 2024.
Bonmatí, winner of the Ballon d'Or, extended her contract with the Blaugrana club until 2028 with a salary slightly above one million euros annually, a historic milestone for women's football at the time.

"Women's football has experienced very high inflation in a very short time, which I don't even know to what extent is real; we will see where this goes, because it has really grown a lot in the last two years."

Marc Vivés · Sporting Director of Barça Women's Team
The United States continues to lead the revaluation of women's football, while in Spain, professionalization has not allowed for equivalent salary growth. Trinity Rodman, daughter of NBA legend Dennis Rodman, was already the youngest player selected in NWSL draft history.
