The spokesperson for Esquerra Republicana de Catalunya (ERC) in Sant Gregori, Cristina Ribas, has strongly questioned the governing team's economic management, pointing out that debt has grown by over 20% in just two years without a proportional increase in revenue. This situation, according to Ribas, jeopardizes the council's ability to handle unforeseen events and secure new loans.
“"In just two years we have increased the Town Council's debt by more than 20% without revenues having increased proportionally. If the level of investments is to be maintained, municipal tax collection must be increased."
Ribas emphasized that projections indicate the debt level will reach 70.38% by 2026, very close to the 75% legal limit. This proximity could force the Town Council to request authorization from the Generalitat de Catalunya for any new credit. To reverse this trend, ERC proposes rethinking the urban model of the Mas Simon area, suggesting building more flats and fewer houses to increase the number of taxpayers and make per capita spending more efficient.
The opposition also criticizes the lack of long-term planning, especially regarding future revenue sources. Ribas warned that Puosc funding will not be collected until 2028 at the earliest, and relying solely on a subsidy is risky. Furthermore, since 2024, there has been talk of expanding the industrial park, but no concrete project or plan has been presented.
Finally, Ribas criticized the budgetary allocation for the Equality department, which represents only 0.097% of the total budget. She considers this figure insufficient to cover the needs of women of working age and accuses the governing team of being “out of touch with social reality.”
