The Canet de Mar City Council has begun the process to create rubber figures of its giants, Guillem-Bernat de Montferrer and Agnès de l’Aubó, with the aim of having them available by March 2027.

The rubber figures, which have become popular among children, will allow these two emblematic figures of Canet's popular culture to be brought even closer to the children of the municipality and beyond. The initiative stems from a proposal by the Colla de Geganters de Canet de Mar (Canet de Mar's Giant Association), which observed the growing interest in these reproductions in other municipalities.
The City Council's Tourism Area has accepted the proposal and initiated the creation process. The first step was taken on Friday, October 23rd, with a photographic session of the giants at Vil·la Flora, which will serve as a reference for studying proportions and volumes. Subsequently, a sculptor will handcraft the figures in wax, molds will be made, and the rubber figures will be manufactured, to be painted after review.
The project has a municipal investment of approximately 15,000 euros. This figure includes the artisanal work, mold creation, and an initial production of 200 units (100 of each giant). The projection is that the figures will be completed by March 2027, due to the complexity of the process and the manual labor required.
Through this initiative, the City Council and the Colla de Geganters aim to foster the connection of new generations with the traditions and popular culture of Canet de Mar, making it possible for children to own a reproduction of their favorite giants.
