With 35,425 euros annually per person, Alella surpassed Matadepera (Vallès Occidental), which recorded 34,776 euros, and Sant Just Desvern (Baix Llobregat), with 34,766 euros. These three municipalities, along with Cabrils (Maresme), exceeded the Catalan average family income by more than 50%.
At the other end of the ranking, Salt (Gironès) closed with an income of 13,663 euros per person, less than half of the wealthiest locality. It was followed by Lloret de Mar (Selva) with 14,009 euros and Castelló d'Empúries (Alt Empordà) with 14,136 euros. Other municipalities such as el Perelló (Baix Ebre) and Santa Margarida de Montbui (Anoia) also fell below 70% of the country's average.
“"Gross disposable family income is the indicator that measures the income available to residents of a territory for consumption or saving."
By comarca, Barcelonès led the classification with 23,632 euros per person, followed by Vallès Occidental (21,314 euros) and Baix Llobregat (21,188 euros). Maresme and Garraf also ranked above the Catalan average. At the lower end, Montsià was the only comarca with an income below 16,000 euros (15,287 euros), below Terra Alta and Noguera.
The Idescat statistics, covering 470 Catalan municipalities with over a thousand inhabitants, also reveal an increase in family income across all comarcas in 2023. Alt Camp recorded the largest increase, 12.8% compared to the previous year. However, the rising cost of living during this period mitigated the real impact of these increases on families' purchasing power.
