The festival, now in its 54th edition, will feature performances, parades, workshops, and concerts in different parts of the town. The kickoff was this midday with a musical showcase in the Plaça de l'Ajuntament (Town Hall Square) and an official reception. The inaugural performance will take place this evening in the same square.
Over ten days, the JIF will also extend to other municipalities in Catalonia. The events in Calella include a grand parade on Friday, September 4th, dance and sardana workshops, markets for folklore products, "World Music" concerts, and themed parades with groups from each invited country.
The festival is organized by Adifolk and collaborates with various local groups such as Grallers de Calella, Agrupació Folklòrica Igualadina, Ball de Gitanes de Sant Vicenç de Castellet, and Cobla Lluïsos de Taradell.
The scheduled events in Calella include, among others, the Gran Cercavila JIF 2026 (Grand Parade) on Friday, September 4th, dance and sardana workshops, folklore product markets, "World Music" concerts, and themed parades with groups from each invited country, culminating in a farewell parade and dances on Saturday, September 12th.
