The Calella City Council has called for a protest concentration in the Town Hall Square this Friday at eight in the evening, after two women, mother and daughter, were severely assaulted at their home on Thursday in a presumed case of gender violence.

The two victims were attacked by a man in their flat in the municipality of Maresme. According to municipal sources, the daughter has not survived her injuries and is in a state of brain death, while the mother remains hospitalized in critical condition.
The Mossos d'Esquadra (Catalan Police) have opened an investigation to clarify the facts. The aggressor, who has not yet been arrested, is believed to be the daughter's sentimental partner, as reported by the Catalan News Agency (ACN).
The protest concentration, which will take place on Friday evening, will include the reading of a condemnation manifesto and a speech by the mayor of Calella, Marc Buch.
