The city of Calella, located in Maresme, will host the Spanish Autonomous Selections Beach Handball Championship (CESA) between June 29 and July 1, gathering 1,200 young athletes.

The agreement to hold the CESA was formalized during the tourism fair Fitur, attended by Mayor Marc Buch, Tourism Councillor Cindy Rando, and 2nd Deputy Mayor Josep Grima, along with members of the Spanish Handball Federation. The competition will take place on Garbí beach, where six courts will be installed for the matches.

"Calella offers ideal facilities and an environment to host top-level competitions."

Marc Buch · Mayor of Calella
Approximately 1,200 athletes are expected to participate, forming part of a hundred male and female teams in the children's, cadet, and youth categories. The organization is managed by the Spanish Handball Federation, in collaboration with the Catalan Handball Federation and UEH Calella.

"In addition to being a top-level sporting event, the CESA reinforces the tourism promotion of Calella and shows that we can host professional competitions in a beach environment."

Cindy Rando · Tourism Councillor of Calella
The local government's presence at Fitur not only served to finalize this sports agreement but also to establish contacts with tour operators and hotel companies. The goal is to consolidate Calella as a sports and tourism benchmark, boosting visitor arrivals and strengthening its image.

"this competition is a unique opportunity to combine sport, promotion, and tourism, and reinforces Calella's image as a venue for renowned Catalan, state, and international events."

Josep Grima · 2nd Deputy Mayor of Calella
