The musical group Fades had to suspend its concert at La Rierada, in Vilassar de Mar, last night. The performance was definitively interrupted after several audience members threw ice cubes onto the stage on three occasions, as the band communicated via social media.
This is not the first incident the group has faced during their current tour. They state that this is the third concert where they have experienced some form of aggression from attendees, despite having only performed about ten shows so far.
Fades has also reported receiving threats and hate messages on social media. The band attributes these attacks to their identity as queer individuals and their advocacy for Catalan language and culture, pointing to a rise in far-right sentiment.
Despite the incidents, the group has expressed their intention to continue performing and asserting their presence in public spaces, stating they will channel the hate they receive into strength to organize and continue occupying these spaces.
The band has thanked their team, the security personnel, and the concert organizers for their support, noting their swift action in response to the events.
La Rierada has also issued a statement condemning the actions and affirming that individuals who engage in any form of violence will never be welcome in their venue.
