The 30th edition of the MontPhoto contest, presented at Cala Banys, has achieved record participation with over 15,000 photographs from 64 countries. According to Paco Membrives, director of the association, the works are "of extraordinary quality" and were evaluated by an international jury for two months. The winners will be announced on October 2nd during the Awards Gala at the Teatre de Lloret.
On its 30th anniversary, MontPhoto celebrates the Declaration of Public Utility granted by the Generalitat, becoming the second photographic entity in Catalunya and the first in the Girona region to receive it. Founded in Lloret de Mar in 1997, the initiative is now an international project with activities in Catalunya, Italy, Cuba, and Argentina.
For the president of MontPhoto, Roser Gruart, this distinction "is a recognition of work that serves the general interest and benefits society as a whole" through photography.
The program of MontPhoto FEST, from October 2nd to 4th, will bring together international photographers and visual creators, alongside emerging talents, with conferences, presentations, portfolio reviews, workshops, and photographic outings. Participants include figures such as Dhritiman Mukherjee, Francesca Page, Javier Alonso Torre, Ofelia de Pablo, Javier Zurita, Alejandra Rendón, and Yhabril Moro, as well as a new generation of creators.
The festival will also feature a free-access social tent with live music, a gastronomic area, and companies and entities from the sector. In parallel, Lloret will host nine exhibitions, including the award-winning works from MontPhoto 2026 and the commemorative exhibition "30 years of MontPhoto".
The Youth Residence MontPhoto "Beyond the Image", from September 28th to October 1st, will offer training and mentorship to visual creators aged 18 to 30.
Mayor Adrià Lamelas emphasizes that "it is an event that transcends the borders of Lloret and highlights the commitment to nature and the territory".
