The Catalan Parliament has approved a resolution proposing a permanent reinforcement of Mossos d'Esquadra personnel in the Maresme region, aiming to adapt police presence to security needs and demographic growth.

The initiative, promoted by the Junts parliamentary group, suggests that the increase in police staffing should not be limited to the summer months but maintained throughout the year. This measure responds to the need to address the continuous population growth and the security demands of the municipalities in the area.

"The current staff is insufficient and often forces overtime, while phenomena such as repeat offending or occupations generate concern in the municipalities."

The MP from Tordera, Judith Toronjo, who defended the proposal, emphasized that the current staff of the Mossos d'Esquadra in Maresme is inadequate. This situation frequently forces officers to work overtime and raises concerns among residents due to issues like repeat offending and illegal occupations.
The text approved by the Catalan chamber demands that police resources be adapted to the constantly growing demographic reality of the region and that an effective presence of officers be guaranteed in all thirty municipalities that comprise Maresme.
