The Parliament of Catalonia has approved an initiative urging the Government to present, within a maximum period of six months, an emergency plan to optimize the operation of the R1 Rodalies line.

The proposal, promoted by Esquerra Republicana de Catalunya and supported by all parliamentary groups except VOX, demands concrete actions to increase the reliability, safety, and accessibility of the service. Furthermore, an independent technical audit is proposed to assess the current state and vulnerability of the railway corridor.
This plan should include immediate measures and clear protocols to guarantee alternative transport options in case of incidents or service disruptions. The chamber has also requested the establishment of a working group within three months to study new alternative routes and accelerate the transfer of the line's management.
Among other approved requests, the reinforcement of interurban road transport in the Maresme region, the approval of a healthcare connectivity plan, and the development of a regional road strategic plan are included.
