The investigation began after local residents reported the presence of rubble in the forest. The Sant Andreu de Llavaneres Town Council has launched a sanctioning process. Beyond the financial penalty, the perpetrator is legally required to remove the waste and restore the natural environment to its original state.
Authorities warned that such actions significantly increase the risk of wildfires and damage the local ecosystem. This issue is widespread across the Maresme region. In nearby Mataró, data from 2025 shows that up to 15 tons of waste are collected annually from natural areas like Camí de Lorita.
The council reminds citizens that construction debris must be managed through official waste collection centers. Identifying and penalizing those responsible is seen as a key step in stopping the environmental degradation of the region's forest paths and streams.
